Basics 01: Type formatting and font weights Linebreak Pretty much exactly what it sounds like: this tag adds a break in the line. When typing normally, you'd hit the enter key, starting a new line. The linkbreak tag tells your web browser to do the same thing - start a new line in the text. So, instead of a potentially huge block of text that hurts the brain to read, you can add a new line periodically to ease the congestion. To add a new line, simply type in <br> somewhere in a chunk of text and watch that chunk split into smaller, more manageable, bites. Example: Before: Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little riding hood of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else; so she was always called 'Little Red Riding Hood.' One day her mother said to her: 'Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine; take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and when you are going, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing; and when you go into her room, don't forget to say, "Good morning", and don't peep into every corner before you do it.' After: Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Paragraph This one is like a next level linebreak. Instead of just pushing the text onto a new line, it creates a new paragraph. In a nutshell: instead of hitting enter just once, you're hitting it twice. To add a new paragraph, simply type in <p> in your text content, and behold, a new paragraph shall arise. Example: Before: 'I will take great care,' said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and gave her hand on it.The grandmother lived out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as Little Red Riding Hood entered the wood, a wolf met her. Red Riding Hood did not know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him. After: 'I will take great care,' said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and gave her hand on it.

The grandmother lived out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as Little Red Riding Hood entered the wood, a wolf met her. Red Riding Hood did not know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him. Bold Ever wanted to see your plain text in bold? I do sometimes. It makes me feel like I'm either expressing myself sternly and unamusedly or just really excited.
Ha, not really, though - but sometimes bold text comes in handy.

There are two ways of making your font appear bold. The first isn't really proper form anywhere else, but this is HL we're talking about, so it's alright. The second is more kosher and up to HTML standards set by The Internet. But, for simplicity's sake, let's just say you can use either - or both - whatever tickles your fancy. First, there's <b>. Secondly, there's <strong>. Important: This is one of the tags that absolutely must be closed. If not, the browser won't know where to stop bold-ing your font, and it will all be bold.
